Roseluck Plush - Commission by fireflytwinkletoes Roseluck Plush - Commission by fireflytwinkletoes
A commission of Roseluck for :iconthund3rstar:. She was really fun to make, particularly after the ridiculous complexity of the last pony I made. We had quite an ordeal finding the right colors for her mane, which led me to the new credo, "Always ask if they have it in storage". Advice to live by, my friends. :D

Anywho. I don't know why I feel I have to upload these the second that they're done - I usually finish them late at night, then take terrible pictures because I have no good lighting or backdrop. So I'll probably replace these with some pictures taken outside, or something, tomorrow. Yay, natural light!

Look at how I'm rambling. I guess I must be tired. Goodnight, Luna. Goodnight, Applejack jumping over the Luna.

I had the lighter pink and cream, but couldn't find the dark wine color. I ended up biking an hour across town to the largest fabric store around and carefully checking their stock - the color was tucked away. I think I had dismissed it as being too dark the last time I went, but it really was the best choice.

eh, we don't even have minky fabric that doesn't have a print or isn't textured, so you're better off than me!

Did you know you can completely flatten the dots out of dot minky, if that's all you have access to? You'll never even be able to tell it was dot minky.

Wonderful job! If I could make one suggestion to the pattern, the snout is a little too big and stallion-ish. Try rounding out the snout a bit

Glad you like her. I actually did the more square look on purpose. I know it's not as show-accurate, but I think the tiny little snub noses on plushes make it look like part of their face has been cut off... So a personal aesthetic choice, if you will. If people requested the snub-nose look, I would of course change it.

Thanks! I prefer the longer, more horsey style of face. I could do the tiny little snub noses, I just don't like the effect as much :P

This Roseluck is just stunning. Which lead me to how perfect you would be for a commission for a Fleur De Lis! It must be done.

Oh, and yes this is amazing. Roseluck is one of the best flower ponies. And you made her stand out as she should.

Fleur de Lis would be fun to make! I'd have to change the proportions of my pattern to get her right, though. Actually, her body is so spindly that I think I'd have to put a wire armature in the plush, or she'd collapse...

I really like Roseluck's colourscheme and you made me like it even more! The eyes and cutiemark look magnificent once again. How did you make the cutiemark? It looks so neat and clean.

I wanted to preserve the detail and color of the cutie marks, so I painted them on stabilized cotton with fabric paints (which soak into the fabric and leave it soft, so that the paint doesn't detract from the cuddliness). And then appliqued the cotton onto the plush. I think I'll be doing more of my cutie marks this way in the future - I like the level of detail you can get in a small area. I mean, that rose is only just over an inch long...

Oh wow what an interesting technique! I never heard of something like it before but the results are outstanding. I agree with you, they look really detailed for such a small format!
