Amaterasu

Amaterasu was a commission for Stormdragon8. She is 10" long from nose to butt and about 9" tall to the top of her head. She is made with Snow White, Evergreen and Sunshine minky with extensive patterning and colouring using airbrushing and Copics. Her Divine Retribution reflector velcros on to her back, and the flames are wired and posable.

I don't really know what to say about this plush. I'm honestly kind of apprehensive about posting her. I'm ridiculously proud of how she turned out, but she's SO different in terms of style and technique from anything I've done before. It feels kind of surreal! I've loved Okami for a long time (definitely one of the best mainstream games of all time - go play it if you haven't!) and was super excited to get to work on such an iconic character. I was also a little surprised when doing research for this plush that there are so few plushes of Amaterasu in a more realistic rather than chibified style. I did find that she was pretty challenging to capture in plush form, given her kind of 'painted' representation in game. Her shape is also very different from things I've done before - aiming for a more realistic canine shape was really interesting, and took me 5 pattern tests before I was even close to happy! Anyway. I hope y'all like her.
